DIY Glitter Lotion Bars

DIY Glitter Lotion Bars

Beauty starts from within, but we love a great self-care routine with natural, DIY recipes to make your outer beauty sparkle like the inner beauty. These glitter lotion bars are a hydrating addition to any beauty routine. They're portable for on-the-go convenience and they're packaging-free, which is great for the environment and sustainability (read more tips on a sustainable, plastic-free life here from Nature's Lab). This recipe uses mica powder for sparkle along with cocoa butter and Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil for natural hydration. Incorporate your favorite Paradise Springs Essential Oil for a fresh scent (we love Lavender Oil for this recipe).

What You'll Need

To Make

Use a double-boiler method to melt the cocoa butter. To do this, heat 1-2 inches of water in a saucepan over medium heat, bringing water to a simmer. Place the heat-safe glass with cocoa butter directly into the water to gently melt it.

Once the cocoa butter is melted, add the Jojoba Oil. Mix and remove from heat. Add the mica powder and mix well, until the mica powder is evenly dispersed.

Let the mixture cool for about 15 minutes and add Lavender Oil or your favorite Paradise Springs Essential Oil (Ylang Ylang and Geranium work great, too, or try a combination to make your own scent!). Pour mix into mold of choice. Set aside until solid.

Usage & Storage

To use, simply glide your lotion bar over skin as needed for moisture and shimmer. These convenient bars are hydrating and non-greasy (no need to rinse!). Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature, avoiding heat. If traveling with your lotion bar, store it in a travel tin or soap holder to avoid transfer onto clothes or bags, and be mindful of excessive heat or hot weather.
