DIY After Sun Care with Jojoba, Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera
Summer is finally here. Most of us know that aloe vera is a favorite for helping soothe sun burns after too much time in the sun. But there’s no need to buy pre-made products full of chemicals. This recipe is a simple way to give skin some rehydrating TLC after a day in the sun. We use only three simple ingredients that all have hydrating properties to nourish skin. Try putting this mixture in the refrigerator to cool and soothe sunburns.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 Tbsp Aloe Vera Gel (we prefer using fresh leaves)
- 3 Tbsp Nature’s Lab Organic Coconut Oil
- 1 Tbsp Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil
- Optional: a few drops of your favorite Paradise Springs Essential Oils
Melt the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the aloe vera gel and Jojoba Oil and mix until incorporated. You can also transfer the mixture into a blender for more even consistency. Add the essential oils (if using) once the mixture has cooled slightly. The mixture will be somewhere between a gel paste and a lotion. Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator for an extra cooling effect.
Apply mixture to clean skin the same as any other lotion. You can also use this moisturizer as a lip balm by applying a thin layer to lips or as a shaving cream by applying to legs directly before shaving to avoid razor burn.
