There is a medicinal spice so timelessly interwoven with the origins of human culture and metabolism, so thoroughly supported by modern scientific inquiry, as to be unparalleled in its proven value to human health and well-being.
Turmeric turns the entire drug-based medical model on its head. Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant that supports our bodies in the fight against inflammation and scientists continue to discover hundreds of potential additional benefits.
Indian culture has known about the many AMAZING benefits of Turmeric for thousands of years. A staple in the Indian diet, Turmeric...
One of the main healthful ingredients in turmeric is curcumin (a curcuminoid), which gives Turmeric its yellow color. Western scientists first isolated the curcumin molecule in 1815, obtained its crystalline form in 1870, and determined its overall structure in 1910.
Curcumin can potentially benefit you by:
Many companies isolate elements from an herb, concentrate them, and label it "whole herb." We deliver the wisdom of whole food. Using only natural supercritical CO2 or traditional techniques of extraction, our extracts guarantee the fullest spectrum of beneficial phytonutrients in their natural profile.Natural Imflamation Response
What is Turmeric?
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) extract comes from the root of the turmeric plant. It is boiled, dried, and ground into a powder. Then, the active ingredient curcumin is extracted. Turmeric extract is an oil-soluble substance that is bright orange-yellow polyphenol (a natural chemical found in plants that on a larger scale are known as antioxidants.)
Turmeric extract has no taste or smell to it. It is also commonly found on a spice rack called turmeric, as many people use it to add flavor to their food. DrVita Turmeric extract Curcumin C3 Complex with Bioperine® capsules are much more potent than the spice you would purchase in a grocery store, delivering 95% of the active curcuminoids vs. 2-9% present in the spice on the shelf.
Benefits of Turmeric
Turmeric acts as an anti-oxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent. It reduces the production of inflammatory molecules, such as prostaglandin and COX-2, which is great for pain. In a clinical study, the anti-inflammatory action of turmeric was successful in treating a condition known as uveitis, an inflammatory condition of the eye that is normally treated with powerful, high doses of steroids. Another controlled trial found that when turmeric was taken daily, it not only reduced the pain, but it also decreased the swelling of the joints. Researchers found that it worked better than hydrocortisone, which is the treatment usually prescribed for joint pain and swelling from all the different conditions that cause joints inflammation.
Many people also have inflammation of the skin (dermatitis). There is a paste you can make using the turmeric extract. If you suffer from dermatitis, this may be a good solution for you. There are no adverse side effects, and it does not burn when applied to the skin. The turmeric paste provides a soothing sensation.
Turmeric extract is one of the most powerful, all-natural medicinal products you can use for inflammation and has numerous other health benefits.
Don't Waste Your Time and Health with Synthetically Processed Herbs and Spices
Just as it's important to select and consume wholesome, unprocessed organic foods, you should do the same with herbs and spices. It is important to be very selective. If the herb or spice you're looking for is processed or genetically modified, you risk missing out on their most potent active ingredients, which provide you with optimal benefits. If the herb or spice isn't cultivated, harvested, produced, and packaged using natural processes, you could be robbed of its healthful active ingredients.
avoid herbs and spices that aren't 100% GMO FREE.
A note from the founder and CEO
On the many benefits of turmeric
Curcumin is impressing scientists and recommended by doctors around the world because of numerous published human studies indicating multiple health benefits. Curcumin is a polyphenol present in the spice turmeric and was first used by Indians over 3,000 years ago in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Published studies over the last several decades have proven that curcumin has numerous benefits including promoting healthy immune function, inflammatory response and cellular functinon. Studies further indicate Curcumin increases detoxifying enzymes and promotes healthy DNA function.*
Turmeric and Curcumin Provide Antioxidant Nutrients
You probably know that antioxidants are important for your health. Many believe antioxidants are your body's #1 way to neutralize free radicals and help you potentially slow down the signs of normal aging.*Oxidation by free radicals can damage cells and organs -- and thus impact your aging process* -- something I'm sure you'd rather put the brakes on.
Antioxidants are also key nutrients in:
Turmeric's antioxidants help protect your cells from free radical damage.* The antioxidant content within turmeric comes from active compounds called curcuminoids.
How Turmeric Enhances Your Outer Beauty
Speaking of antioxidant nutrients and their potential to impact the aging process, some of the first aging signs you may see as you get older are changes to your skin. Believe it or not, the organic ingredients found in turmeric can help promote your healthy skin.* Curcuminoids support important blood and liver functions, healthy joints, and your overall well-being,* which in turn helps promote radiant, supple skin.* Turmeric has been considered to be ‘skin food' for thousands of years in India and other cultures.*
So, turmeric can act as your one-two punch against normal aging with its skin promotion and antioxidant capabilities -- outer beauty plus inner purity.*
Cellular Booster and Adaptogen
Another potential advantage from turmeric usage involves the smallest living things within you -- your cells.
Turmeric can assist your cells in three ways, by:
Turmeric is also recognized as an adaptogen -- helping to support your body against stress and providing immune system support.*
What Are Your Best Sources for Turmeric?
Well, you may already know you can find it in the spice aisle of your local grocery store. But this can be costly, and may not deliver the many benefits of this powerful nutrient.
Even though there may be some good spices available there, it's very difficult to verify their purity and potency. Also, the turmeric powder you buy in your store is a spice. It doesn't necessarily come from high-quality organic herbs -- and is not produced using certified organic processes, causing you to risk missing its healthful benefits.
